Country of origin
Umbrian-Marche Apennines Mountains (peaks between 750 and 1200 m).
Vegetable pollen harvested by foraging bees, mixed with nectar and salivary enzymes to provide food (mainly protein source) for the bee family.
Male flowers of Angiosperm plants
The fresh product is harvested from traps placed at the entrance of the beehive, then frozen (-18°C) during the day to sanitize the product and keep its organoleptic properties intact. Mechanical and manual sifting follows to remove any impurities before packaging.
High amount of proteins and essential amino acids (methionine, lysine, tryptophan, phenylalanine, etc.), good presence of lipids including essential fatty acids (linoleic, γ-linoleic and others) and phospholipids; carbohydrates (mainly sucrose, glucose and fructose).
Vitamins B (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12) and vitamin C, plus vitamins A, D, E. Good amount of mineral salts (≥ 1.6%), including: Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Iron, Zinc, Manganese, Selenium, etc.
Flavonoids, also responsible for the natural coloring of plants (flavos = yellow), particularly abundant and varied: quercetin, luteolin, isoramnetin, kaempferol, rutin, etc.; there are also phenolic acids and other organic substances (eg: phytosterols, biostimulins, etc.).
useful in all conditions of physical or mental stress such as change of season, convalescence from weakening illnesses, overwork, etc...
Regulator and protector of
the gastrointestinal system
It favors the detoxification of various substances (heavy metals, industrial emissions and gases, drugs, etc.) and has a trophic action on intestinal villi.
Supplement to physical
activity and excessive
protects the muscles from damages caused by stress and fatigue, promotes increase in muscle mass and has an anti-anemic action.
reduces the blood concentration of triglycerides and cholesterol, prevents the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, helps to protect the myocardium from oxidative damages.
(especially against Gram-positive bacteria) It is useful in degenerative conditions at the initial stages (eg: arthrosis, benign prostatic hyperplasia and others) to ease the maintenance of damaged tissues (repair action of collagen) and the improvement of symptoms.
It enhances learning and memory functions, limiting and preventing situations of cognitive deterioration, also improving cerebral blood flow.
Those allergic to bee venom, suffering from asthma or with high allergy incidence (particularly hay allergy to Graminaceae, Cupressaceae, Betulaceae, Salicaceae, Fagaceae, etc.) should avoid the intake of any hive product. It is always advisable to undergo allergy tests before starting therapy. Particular caution is required for pregnant women, lactating women and especially children of pediatric age, for whom pollen may contribute to allergic sensitivity.
Just as all hive products, the effect of pollen is dependent on the dose.
To obtain the maximum spectrum of therapeutic activity, it is recommended to take at least 300 mg/Kg of body weight (about 20 g for an adult of 60 kg) per day, until the product is finished; the dosage may be reduced considering the simultaneous intake of other drugs for the same illness.
For the nutraceutical function alone and for the prevention of seasonal illnesses, 10 g per day (about one spoonful) is sufficient for at least 1 month.
It should preferably be taken in the morning, before or during breakfast; for proper absorption of the product it is important to let it remain in an unheated liquid for at least a couple of hours (e.g.: milk, yogurt, water and lemon, iced tea, etc.).
Store in the freezer or alternatively on the lower shelf of the refrigerator (if consumed within 10 days of opening). An accidental defrosting for a few hours does not cause damage to the product.
